Silver Jewellery Making for Absolute Beginners
Come and learn basic traditional jewellery skills in this small, friendly workshop. No previous experience needed.
By watching demonstrations and undergoing several practical projects overseen by the tutor, students will learn how to make a ring and set a stone. Students will leave the course with a good grounding in soldering skills and other basic metalsmithing techniques to form an understanding of the fundamental properties of non-ferrous metal.

Silver Jewellery Making – intermediate students
Designed as a follow-on course from Absolute Beginners, these workshops are tailored to suit the students’ individual needs. With a maximum of 3 students, this class provides the opportunity to design and make your own creations using existing skills while learning new techniques demonstrated by the tutor, such as cold connections, hollow construction, simple clasps and patination. Basic beginner skills are required.

Alison Flanders runs a series of dedicated jewellery workshops in traditional metalsmithing techniques. Aimed at both complete beginners and those with some experience of jewellery making, Alison’s classes take place in her studio at Cockpit Arts in central London. Classes are kept to a maximum of 3 students, enabling Alison to give each individual as much one to one tuition as possible. Each student has their own workbench and soldering torch and all tools are provided.
All you need bring is an apron, closed topped shoes and something to hold your hair back if necessary.
